Who are Lucas Fettes Online?

Lucas Fettes Online was established in 2014 to sell a range of high quality insurance and financial products and services online. It was created by, and is a trading name of, Lucas Fettes & Partners, an independent, Lloyd’s accredited insurance brokerage, financial services and employee advisory practice, founded in 1980 with a network of offices across the UK.

Why was Lucas Fettes Online created?

We recognised that people increasingly want to manage their financial affairs online – for efficiency, convenience and often to cut cost. We firmly believe that doing so shouldn’t mean forsaking a high standard of service and are committed to the quality of each and every one of the products and services we deliver.

Furthermore, we want to ensure that when you take up one of our products or services, you can be confident that it will meet your particular needs. So, unlike many other online solutions, we offer information, guidance and in some cases advice, to help you make an informed decision.

How is Lucas Fettes Online different to other online insurance and financial service providers?

Unlike many providers of online insurance and financial products and services, we don’t expect you to make important, sometimes irrevocable, decisions regarding your financial affairs without any guidance or advice. In delivering our products and services online we are able to save you the cost of face-to-face advice, but, in every case, we endeavour to provide you with sufficient information and guidance to help you make an informed decision about whether a particular product or service is – or isn’t – right for you.

In some cases, for example our online investment service, we go further and provide advice. Where we provide advice, it’s what’s known as ‘restricted advice’. The term ‘restricted advice’ means that we will offer you personal recommendations based on your particular requirements, but have a narrower range of products or services to offer you to meet those requirements. Restricted advice enables you to benefit from our experience and expertise but without the cost of a full and independent advisory service. The advice we provide you is covered under the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) provided you are eligible under their rules.

Is Lucas Fettes Online regulated?

Yes, we are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, which has detailed rules for the handling and overseeing of client assets and money and requires extensive pre-recruitment and ongoing checks.

Does Lucas Fettes Online provide advice?

Whether or not we provide advice varies depending on the product or service you select – some of our products and services, such as our annuity service, are non-advised. Others, like our investment and home insurance services, provide restricted advice.

Where we make a recommendation to you, we will always make it clear that this constitutes advice. Any advice we provide is covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) provided you are eligible under their rules.

How do you provide your products and services?

Lucas Fettes Online is a trading name of Lucas Fettes & Partners, an independent, Lloyd’s accredited insurance brokerage, financial services and employee advisory practice. Whereas Lucas Fettes & Partners offer a full, independent advisory service, Lucas Fettes Online provides insurance and financial products and services online only.

Each of the products and services offered by Lucas Fettes Online is provided by one of our trusted third party partners.

Are the third parties you use to provide and administer your products and services regulated?

Yes, our third party partners are carefully selected based on their fulfillment of a range of important criteria. Each and every one is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Our products and services are available to UK residents only. This generally means as long as you are a UK resident for tax purposes you are eligible to take out one of our products or services.
